Yoga Poses For Healthy Skin: How To Shoulder Stand

Shoulder Stand, also known as Salamba Sarvangasana, is an advanced yoga posture that helps to stimulate the thyroid gland, improve circulation, and promote healthy skin. Here's how to practice Shoulder Stand:

  1. Lie on your back on your yoga mat with your arms at your sides.

  2. Lift your legs and hips off the mat, and bring your hands to your lower back for support.

  3. Walk your hands up your back towards your shoulder blades, and lift your legs up towards the ceiling.

  4. Press your elbows and forearms into the mat to lift your shoulders off the mat, and support your lower back with your hands.

  5. Keep your chin tucked into your chest, and breathe deeply.

  6. Hold the pose for a few breaths, and then slowly lower your legs and hips back down to the mat.

Some tips to keep in mind while practicing Shoulder Stand:

  • If you have any neck issues, keep your head lifted slightly or place a folded blanket or block under your shoulders for support.

  • Engage your core muscles to protect your lower back.

  • Avoid straining or forcing yourself into the pose. Work within your body's limitations and only go as far as feels comfortable.

With regular practice, Shoulder Stand can help stimulate the thyroid gland and promote healthy blood circulation for clearer, healthier-looking skin. Remember to practice with awareness and respect for your body's limitations, and always consult with a qualified yoga teacher before attempting advanced postures like Shoulder Stand.
